Most members were positive about the quality of communications coming from groups and centres. Both members and leaders were positive about communications from Shambhala Global Services and the Shambhala Board. More members and leaders were positive about communication from the Board and from Shambhala Global Services in 2023, compared to 2022.

However, fewer members were aware of Board communications in 2023, compared to 2022.

Member descriptions of the communication received from Shambhala groups and centres were generally positive and similar between 2022 and 2023, with some decline in the number agreeing that these communications are responsive. In 2023 the survey also asked whether communications were felt to be honest and straightforward, and over 80% felt that this was usually or almost always the case.

How often do the communications you receive from your Shambhala group or centre have these characteristics?

In 2023, 41% of members did not know whether communications from the Board and SGS were responsive to their questions, compared to 29% who replied this way in 2022. Similarly, in 2023, 24% of members did not know whether Board and SGS communications were complete so all issues are covered, compared to 13% who replied this way in 2022.

Among those who were aware of these communications, slightly more were positive about features of Board communication in 2023 compared to 2022. However, there was a decline in the portion of respondents who felt the communications were responsive to their questions.

A majority of leaders were satisfied with the clarity and authenticity of the language and contents of communication from Shambhala Global Services and the Shambhala Board. Fewer were satisfied that the communications appeal to diverse audiences, and contribute to repair of Shambhala’s reputation. The smallest proportion of leaders, 47%, were satisfied that the communications reflect the extent of innovation occurring in the community.
